SCB Announces 2018 Bevo Francis Award Top 25 Watch List

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – With much excitement, Small College Basketball has announced its third Watch List for the Bevo Francis Award of 2018 consisting of 25 of the finest men's basketball players in the country who compete in the affiliations of NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA Division I, NAIA Division II, USCAA and NCCAA.

"Once again, limiting the Bevo Francis Watch List to 25 players from all of small college basketball has been incredibly difficult," said SCB Founder John McCarthy. "We really leaned on our criteria for the award, including team success, individual statistics, awards, milestones and each player's comprehensive season. Our committee has provided a great amount of information and insight to this process.

"On behalf of our committee and all of those involved with the Bevo Francis Award, I sincerely congratulate all 25 finalists for the 2018 Bevo Francis Award, which is considered the most prestigious award for current players in all of Small College Basketball."

Members of the Bevo Francis Award committee include the following University president and coaches: Dr. Michelle Johnston – Rio Grande, Tobin Anderson - St. Thomas Aquinas (N.Y.), Drew Diener - Rockhurst (Mo.), Gerald Holmes - Bloomfield (N.J.), Gary Stewart - Stevenson (Md.), Arlen Galloway - Wentworth (Mass.), Tony Dominguez- Western Washington, Chris Briggs - Georgetown (Ky.), Bill Dreikosen - Rocky Mountain (Mont.), Klint Pleasant - Rochester (Mich.), Ryan Kane - Ripon (Wisc.), Mike McGrath - University of Chicago, Mark Berokoff – Randall (Okla.), Mike Donnelly – Florida Southern, Tony Ingle - Dalton State; Rhett Soliday, Vanguard.

The committee chose this elite group from over 1,100 colleges and universities and took into consideration individual statistics, previous awards, milestones and team success.

This marks the third annual Bevo Francis Award, as the award was previously given to Dominez Burnett of Davenport (Mich.) in 2016 and Justin Pitts of Northwest Missouri State in 2017.

The finalists of this award will be announced in a highlight video that will be released on March 31.

The 2018 Bevo Francis Award winner will be announced on April 2, but for the first time, the award will be presented to the award winner on May 19 at the newly created National Awards Show in conjunction with the SCB Alumni Association's Celebration of the Game event at the Crowne Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri.

Small College Basketball is very grateful to the University of Rio Grande and Sheward-Fulks Insurance for their sponsorship and support of the Bevo Francis award.
