Wheeling, W. Va. - Wheeling University men's basketball has announced its schedule for the 2026-27 season. The slate will include 14 home games, 11 road games, and three neutral court games as the Cardinals look to build upon their 19-win season from a year ago.  

"This is a highly competitive schedule that will test us night in and night out but also prepare us for the challenges of the Mountain East," said seventh-year head coach Chris Richardson. "We are looking forward to the journey ahead." 

The season will tip-off in the McDonough Center on Monday November 9 as the Cardinals host perenniel GMAC power Ashland University. The Eagles are coming off a 20-11 season that ended in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. 

Wheeling will continue non-conference play at the West Liberty Tip-Off Classic, taking on PSAC West contenders Cal (Pa) and Pitt-Johnstown on the hilltop. It will be the sixth consecutive season WU has participated in the event. 

The Cardinals will return to home on Thursday November 19 to host Findlay, then travel to Winston-Salem State the following week for road tilt with the Rams. The final non-conference contest will be the annual game with Franciscan, once again slated to take place at WesBanco Arena for an Education Day celebration.  

Senior Day will be February 6 vs. Frostburg State, the final Saturday home game of the season.
