The win improves the Cardinals, ranked No. 20 in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 poll, to 16-3 overall. Meanwhile, the Greyhounds fall to 11-6 this season.

Sophomore Cassie Meyer (Jackson Center, Ohio/Jackson Center) continued her solid play with a team-high 24 kills to go with 12 digs and three blocks for her fourth-straight kill-dig double-double and 10thoverall this season. Meyer finished the match with a new season-best .458 hitting percentage and only two errors on 48 attacks.

Junior Haley Kramer (Norwalk, Ohio/Monroeville) also had an impressive stat line with 12 kills on 22 attacks (two errors) to finish with a .455 hitting percentage.

Sophomore setter Stephanie Sylvester (Oregon, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) guided the efficient offense with 49 assists, while sophomore Makenna Babb (Arlington, Ohio/McComb) led the defense with 19 digs.

The Cardinals established a 7-1 lead in the first set and never looked back. Despite UIndy coming within two points at 11-9, Wheeling Jesuit never relinquished the lead and cruised to a 25-15 win.

The Greyhounds led by as many as four points in the second frame and held the upper hand early on in the set. WJU chipped away at the deficit and took its first lead since the third point of the set at 18-17. With UIndy ahead 21-20, the Cardinals rallied for five-consecutive points to close out the set and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

The third set played similar to the opening frame. Wheeling Jesuit established an early lead at 6-1 and never trailed in the set. The Cardinals built their biggest lead at 21-10, before closing out the set at 25-14 to win the match in a sweep.

Wheeling Jesuit as a team finished with a .336 hitting percentage, including a .412 mark in the third set. The team also held UIndy to a .116 hitting percentage in the process.

The Greyhounds were coming off of a win against No. 11 Lewis (then-No. 4) last week and also had a victory over No. 23 Colorado School of Mines on their resume this season.

The Cardinals return to their Mountain East Conference (MEC) schedule on Saturday, October 6 when they host West Virginia Wesleyan (12 p.m.) and Glenville State (2 p.m.) in back-to-back matches.
