WHEELING, W.Va. (Oct. 6) – The No. 20 Wheeling Jesuit University volleyball team picked up a pair of 3-0 wins over West Virginia Wesleyan and Glenville State Saturday afternoon at the McDonough Center in Mountain East Conference (MEC) play.
The wins improve the Cardinals to 18-3 overall, 5-0 in the MEC. Meanwhile, the Bobcats drop to 4-14, 3-4 in league play, while the Pioneers fall to 5-10, 1-6 in the MEC.

The Cardinals opened the day with a three-set sweep over the Bobcats behind solid hitting performances by sophomore
Cassie Meyer (Jackson Center, Ohio/Jackson Center) and junior
Haley Kramer (Norwalk, Ohio/Monroeville).
Meyer tallied a game-high 13 kills (.600 hitting percentage), but Kramer finished with 10 kills on only 11 attacks to post an impressive .909 hitting percentage. She also added seven blocks (one solo) to her final line.
Junior setter
Stephanie Sylvester (Oregon, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) tossed around 34 assists, while sophomore
Audrey Francis (Sidney, Ohio/Fairlawn) paced the defense with 12 digs.
Wheeling Jesuit as a team posted 39 kills on 76 attacks (seven errors), compared to the 29 kills on 90 attacks (22 errors) for West Virginia Wesleyan.

The Cardinals closed the afternoon with another three-set sweep, this time over Glenville State.
Kramer posted a team-high 11 kills on 17 attacks (.647 hitting percentage) and added eight blocks (one solo). Redshirt-sophomore
Breanna Kramer (Norwalk, Ohio/Monroeville), freshman
Allonda Watkins (Beachwood, Ohio/Beachwood) and Meyer all had seven kills in the win.
Sophomore
Kenzie Schroer (New Knoxville, Ohio/New Knoxville) guided the offense with 24 assists, while Francis turned in eight digs on defense.
The hot-hitting Cardinals did not show any signs of fatigue playing in their second game of the day. The team finished with 47 kills on 89 attacks (nine errors) to establish a .427 hitting percentage. Defensively, Wheeling Jesuit limited Glenville State to 21 kills on 90 attacks (21 errors), to hold the Pioneers to a .000 hitting percentage. The Cardinals held Glenville State to a negative hitting percentage in two sets.
Wheeling Jesuit returns to action on Tuesday, October 9 when they welcome Ohio County-rival West Liberty to the McDonough Center at 7 p.m.
