Wheeling Jesuit outmatched at Notre Dame

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio (Oct. 24) – The Wheeling Jesuit women's soccer team fell to Mountain East Conference (MEC) foe Notre Dame (Ohio) 5-1 Wednesday afternoon.

The Cardinals now have a record of 3-12-1 and 2-9-1 in the MEC, while Notre Dame improves their record to 9-5-1 overall and 9-2-1 in league play.

Senior Kayla Klock (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) put the Cardinals in the lead with a goal off of a through ball by freshman Jada Taylor (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) in the 25th minute.

The Falcons headed a ball into the net to tie the game and were successful in their attempt at another goal with a minute to go in the first half to put them up 2-1 entering halftime.

The Cardinals equaled the Falcons in shots taken throughout the second half, including an attempt by sophomore Marley Magruder (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) that rang off of the crossbar. Unfortunately, the Cardinals were unable to sneak the ball into the net and Notre Dame added three more goals to secure the win.

Wheeling Jesuit will host the last game of the regular-season against West Liberty on Saturday, October 27th at 4 p.m.
