CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Oct. 13) - The No. 20 Wheeling Jesuit volleyball team rolled past Charleston 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-13) Saturday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference (MEC) contest.

It was another big evening for sophomore Cassie Meyer (Jackson Center, Ohio/Jackson Center). She registered her 12th kill-dig double-double of the season with a match-high 16 kills to go with 11 digs.

Sophomore Makenna Babb (Arlington, Ohio/McComb) tallied nine kills and 10 digs, while freshman Allonda Watkins (Beachwood, Ohio/Beachwood) chipped in eight kills in the win.

There was little separation early in the first set. The Cardinals led 13-12 and eventually pushed their lead to 20-15. The Golden Eagles cut the deficit to three, 20-17, before WJU rolled off five-straight points to close out the set at 25-17.

The Cardinals took the lead in the second set at 5-4 and never looked back in a 25-15 win. WJU did not relinquish the lead and had multiple runs of three or more points, including a string of five-consecutive points that ran the lead to 22-13.

Wheeling Jesuit dominated the third set to ensure the match ended quickly. The Cardinals led 8-4, before they rattled off 12-straight points on Babb serves to build a 20-4 advantage. The Golden Eagles managed to earn a handful of points, but a kill by redshirt-sophomore Breanna Kramer (Norwalk, Ohio/Monroeville) closed out the match at 25-13.

Junior setter Stephanie Sylvester (Oregon, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) guided the offense with 39 assists and sophomore libero Audrey Francis (Sidney, Ohio/Fairlawn) added a match-best 23 digs.

The Cardinals limited Charleston to a .055 hitting percentage and 24 attack errors. WJU finished the match with by hitting .314 with eight blocks on defense.
