West Virginia State played the first set close and trailed 9-8 early on, before the Cardinals flexed their muscle and went on a 16-to-5 run to close out a 25-13 first-set win.

The Yellow Jackets looked poised to take a set from Wheeling Jesuit in the second set, leading 19-16, before the Cardinals closed the set by claiming nine of the next 11 points to win 25-21 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

WJU finished off West Virginia State in straight sets with a solid 25-17 win in the third set. The Cardinals never trailed in the set and kept the Yellow Jackets at bay to earn the clean sweep.
