Cardinals Weather Blue Knights, Hold Home Court Serve

WHEELING, W.Va. – Against an inspired Blue Knights team, the Cardinals weathered the storm. Urbana came out strong and took the first set only to see Wheeling Jesuit hold serve on its home court, and take the next three sets for the 3-1 Mountain East Conference win.

Trailing 18-16, the Blue Knights (7-9/2-1 MEC) netted the next five points and held on for a 25-21 first set win. The Cardinals (13-4/4-0 MEC) went out to a 14-7 early second set lead and had to hold until Haley Kramer killed the final two points, 25-23. WJU took control early in the third set, 13-4, and never looked back for the 25-13 tally. Urbana did not go away as WJU had finish the fourth set strong for a 25-21 final.

As a team, the Cardinals hit solidly with a .357 hit percent over 140 attacks. Kramer paced the way with a career-high 19 winners with only three errors in 32 attacks for a .500 percentage to go with three total blocks.
