WHEELING, W.Va. – In a midweek non-conference contest, Wheeling Jesuit clipped Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in straight sets, 3-0, spurred by a strong-hitting opening two sets.

The Cardinals (11-4) powered to a first set, 25-20, win off a .400 hit percentage. After three-straight Crimson Hawks (11-4) points to pull within a point, 15-14, the home team ran off six tallies in a row to pull away, 25-15. WJU trailed 22-19 late in the third set, before it rallied to score six of the final seven points capped by a Stephanie Sylvester setter dink kill, 25-23.

The newly-named Mountain East Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, Haley Kramer pounded 15 kills, hit .379, and was in on five block assists. Cassie Meyer recorded her 10^th double-double of 13 kills and 12 digs.

Makenna Babb chipped in seven kills, 16 digs, and two block assists. Maddy Smyth hit .625 with five kills and a block. Kenzi Schroer added four kills and a pair of blocks.

Sylvester dished out 41 assists to go with nine digs, six kills and a block. Audrey Francis and Abby Moffit held down the Cardinals defense with 16 and 11 digs.

WJU followed its first-set .400 hit percentage with a .370 average in set two.

The Crimson Hawks received 12 kills and six digs from Natalie Cignetti and 11 winners from Alexis Anderson.

WJU remains at home this weekend for a pair of MEC matches. The Cardinals host the Falcons of Notre Dame College Friday night, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m., and then the Blue Knights of Urbana on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 30, in at 1 p.m.
