WHEELING, W.Va. – After being outplayed in the first half, Emily Hartley powered a long 35-yard goal and she spurred the Wheeling Jesuit women's soccer team to a 2-0 shutout of visiting Pitt-Johnstown Tuesday night.

On the first shot of the second half at 53:55, Hartley settled the ball and blasted a more than 35-yard screamer to the top middle part of the goal. The WJU (2-4) score put the home team in the driver's seat the rest of the match. Jenny Soegaard-Andersen hit a soft pass from the right wing to Kayla Klock, who kicked it past the Mountain Cats (1-5-1) keeper for an insurance goal in the 81^st minute.

"We had a gritty performance throughout. We made some tactical changes at the half and players executed to get the result," pointed out Cardinals head coach Tyler Absalom.

The WJU 2-0 result was its second shutout and exact same final after it defeated Urbana by the same score last Saturday evening. Hannah Thompson secured her second shutout of the season and she recorded six saves on Mountain Cat shots.

UPJ outshot the home squad, 16-7, including a 10-2 first half margin.

WJU will try to make it three in a row on Saturday night, Sept. 22, in a 7 p.m. match at West Virginia Wesleyan.
