Griffins Give Cardinals Women’s Soccer Tough Opening Day

GREENSBURG, Pa. – It was a tough opener for the Cardinals on Thursday afternoon. Seton Hill found the net three times in each half and handed Wheeling Jesuit a 6-0 defeat in women's soccer.

WJU sophomore Micah Miller booted two shots in the opening 14 minutes, but Seton Hill goalie Jessica Neill denied her both times. The Griffins (1-0) scored the game's first goal of the match between the two Miller attempts at 12:56. Kayla Klock added what would be the final shot on goal for the Cardinals (0-1) at 41:52 of the first half.

Seton Hill outshot WJU, 21-9, in the match. Cardinals goalies Hannah Thompson and Megan Herter had six and two saves to their credits.

WJU has a week off before it regroups on Friday, Sept. 8, in the Mountain East Conference opener at Notre Dame College. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m.
