Cardinals Score Final Three in Third, Posted Fifth-Straight Win

PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The final score ended as the closest in the five-year series, but the Cardinals posted their fifth-straight win on Saturday. Wheeling Jesuit netted the final three third-period goals and added the first of the final quarter to seal the 15-11 victory over Alderson Broaddus men's lacrosse team.

WJU's Jamison Smith scored the game's first score and the visitors netted three of the opening four goals. The Battlers (1-9) came back to within 11-9 with 6:21 in the third quarter. The Cardinals (6-7) answered with a goal by each of Dereck Downs, Travis Getz and Smith to end the third, before Joe Wright fired one home for an insurance goal at 6:13 left in the match.
