SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Notre Dame College hosted Wheeling Jesuit Saturday for a Mountain East Conference north division doubleheader.

The Falcons (12-27) claimed two victories by scores of 3-2 and 9-2.

Game 1 notes:
Winning pitcher – Josh Armbruster (1-7)
Losing pitcher – Michael Finch (2-3)

Recap:
Wheeling Jesuit (4-29) scored a run in the top of the second inning to take the early lead. Adam Dennison singled home Dalton Davis to put the visitors ahead by one.

Notre Dame answered by hanging a three spot in the fourth frame to take control.

The Cardinals battled, though, and scored in the top of the sixth inning as Dalton Davis doubled to right center to score Dillon Sunnafrank and make the contest a one-run game, 3-2.

Michael Finch tossed six frames and struck out four hitters. Finch allowed three runs on seven hits and faced 28 hitters.

Drake May and Dennison led WJU with 2-3 efforts. Sunnafrank, Davis, Matthew Angelini, and Logan Schickler all recorded one base hit in game one.

Game 2 notes:
Winning pitcher – Tyler Gault (5-2)
Losing pitcher – Benjamin Standiford (0-5)

Recap:
Wheeling Jesuit and Notre Dame exchanged runs in the first frame.

In the top of the third, WJU took a brief 2-1 lead but the Falcons scored four times to climb ahead, 6-2. They added two more in the fourth and one in the eighth to win, 9-2.

May finished 2-3 with a pair of runs scored and a double to his credit. Davis added another two hits and a RBI while Angelini drove in the other run. Zach Blumling, Sunnafrank, Angelini, Tristan Grimes, Christpopher Brake, and Jagger Bruck all finished with a base hit.

Standiford lasted 2.2 innings, giving up six earned on six hits. He walked five hitters and struck out one. Cody Hudson relieved Standiford and threw 2.1 innings, giving up six hits but just two runs. Logan Menear tossed three innings of work, striking out two hitters and giving up one hit and one run.
