FSU Takes Monday Doubleheader from WJU

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Fairmont State Falcons completed the four-game north division series sweep of the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals Monday afternoon.

WJU dropped the first contest, 7-4, before falling 17-2 in game two.

Game 1 notes:
Winning pitcher – Luke Paull
Losing pitcher – Josh Bell

Recap:
Wheeling Jesuit took a 1-0 lead in the top half of the first inning thanks to a Dalton Davis single, which scored Michael Finch

FSU, however, scored four runs in the home half of the first and would never trail again.

Dillon Sunnafrank doubled and scored in the third inning to score WJU's second run. In the sixth, Davis singled home Sunanfrank and later scored himself on a wild pitch, but the Cardinals fell, 7-4.

Bell tossed four innings and allowed 10 hits and seven runs to score. Logan Menear threw two innings of no-hit baseball for WJU.

Sunnafrank finished game one 3-3 at the plate with a pair of runs scored. Davis added a 2-3 effort including two RBI's and one run. Adam Dennison and Christopher Brake each finished with one hit.

Game 2 notes:
Winning pitcher – Zach Uhazie
Losing pitcher – Brian Shaw

Recap:
Just like in game one, Wheeling Jesuit would take an early lead. The Cardinals scored twice in the top of the third as Logan Schickler and Brake scored what would be unearned runs.

Fairmont State, however, erupted for 10 runs in the fourth and seven in the fifth to defeat the Cardinals, 17-2.

Brian Shaw lasted 3.1 innings and allowed six earned runs to score. Cody Hudson relieved Shaw and threw one inning in which the Falcons scored 11 runs, 10 of which were earned. Nick Luciano retired two hitters while Sunnafrank tossed three hitless innings and fanned six Falcons.

Brake finished game two 2-3 at the plate with a run scored. Sunnafrank tallied another hit and drew one walk. Dennison drove in one run for WJU.
