Cardinals Softball Faces MEC North Weekend Road Swing

SHEPHERDSTOWN & FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Coming off a Wednesday night sweep, the Wheeling Jesuit softball team faces a Mountain East Conference North Division weekend road swing at Shepherd and Fairmont State.

The Cardinals (11-11) battle the Rams (15-8) first with a chance to get closer to the MEC North top spot. Shepherd sits in first at 5-3, while WJU is an even 5-5. The two foes begin their doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday.

On Sunday, WJU heads to Fairmont State (9-17/2-6 MEC North). The Cardinals and Falcons have a noon first pitch.

Shepherd and Fairmont State were to play Thursday night, but the doubleheader was a weather casualty. Shepherd, though, won its last five games, including back-to-back sweeps last weekend over both Notre Dame College and Urbana. On the other hand, Fairmont State has dropped five of its last six contests.
