TIFFIN, Ohio - The Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals dropped a Saturday morning road contest to the Tiffin Dragons, 15-7.
Olivia Krock sent the Cardinals ahead 1-0 just six minutes into action, when
Elizabeth Hales found her open in front of the net.
Hales scored three minutes later off a
Kori Hickman assist, putting the Cardinals ahead 2-1.
Tiffin rattled off the final five scores of the first half, taking a 6-2 lead into the intermission.
Hales kicked off the second half scoring, with a goal five minutes into the action, helping the Cards to within three, 6-3.
The Dragons, however, went on a 7-0 spurt, growing their lead to 10, 13-3.
WJU claimed the next three scores - a goal by
Mary Burns,
Paige Plesich and
Kate Calder. Burns later scored again, but the Cardinals would fall to the Dragons by a score of 15-7.
Hales led the WJU offense with five points, scoring twice and assisting on three others.
Burns scored twice while
Kori Hickman assisted on two WJU scores. Plesich, Krock, and Calder each finished with one point.
The Cardinals travel to the University of Indianapolis to face off with the Greyhounds in an 11 a.m. Sunday match.
