Women’s Lacrosse Weekend Preview -- Cards Travel to Tiffin, Univ. of Indy

WHEELING, W.Va. - The Wheeling Jesuit women's lacrosse team heads to the road for a pair of weekend contests. The Cardinals visit Tiffin University on Friday before traveling to the University of Indianapolis for a 11:00 a.m. Sunday match. 
 
WJU enters the weekend 2-3, with its last outing resulting in a win over Edinboro University, 13-11. Edinboro sprung to a 2-0 lead before WJU answered with nine-straight scores. Elizabeth Hales led all scorers with five goals and one assist. Kori Hickman scored twice and assisted on four other goals for her six points. Paige Plesich finished with three goals and four points. Holly Deckert and Lyndsay Carpenter combined for nine ground balls and nine caused turnovers.
 
Hales leads the WJU attack with 16 points on the season, as she has tallied 12 goals and four assists. Hickman ranks second with 12 points. Plesich has scored five goals and handed out three assists for eight points. Mary Burns and Markie Wright each have five points through five games. 
 
Carpenter leads the Cardinal defense with 17 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers over five games. Deckert has picked up 11 ground balls and forced nine turnovers while Taylor Quigg has six ground balls and five caused turnovers.
 
Tiffin enters Friday 1-3 on the early season, with its lone win coming at the University of Mount Olive on March 4. The Dragons dropped their most recent match, 11-10, to New Haven on March 12. Morgan Sherley leads Tiffin with 12 points on the season while Amanda Flotteron has 11. Elle MacMillan and Elle Hamilton each have eight points on the season.
 
The University of Indianapolis holds a 5-1 mark heading into the Sunday match with the Cardinals. The Greyhounds have won their last three matches, with their lone loss coming at Mercy on February 24. In its last outing, Indy shot its way past Shepherd, 20-8. Anna Rulapaugh leads Indy with 38 points in her six games this season. Anna has scored 21 goals and dished out 17 assists. Grace Gunneson ranks second with 22 points.
