WJU Falls to Notre Dame Thursday Evening

WHEELING, W.Va. – The Notre Dame Falcons entered the Alma Grace McDonough Center Thursday evening in the second to last regular season outing of the 2016-17 season.
 
The Falcons would outlast the Cardinals down the stretch, winning the fourth quarter by a score of 25-10. Notre Dame went on to earn the victory, 74-59.
 
The visiting Falcons (14-12, 13-8 MEC) claimed a 21-15 first quarter advantage before WJU would close the halftime margin to a single point, 35-34.
 
WJU (21-6, 16-5 MEC) would tie the matchup at 49 all headed into the fourth, but the Falcons would push past the Cardinals by a 15-point margin, solidifying the team's seventh straight victory.
 
Kylie Frizell led the Cardinals with 18 points on 7-13 shooting. The senior guard buried four of eight attempts from three while collecting seven rebounds.
 
Mariah Callen added 15 points off a trio of treys. Callen dished out five assists and grabbed three defensive rebounds. Jaana Motton was the third Cardinal in double figures with her 11 points and six boards.
 
Chenelle Moore chipped in seven points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals in her 16 minutes of action. Monica Burns added five points to the Cardinals total.
 
WJU completes the regular season with a Saturday afternoon matchup with the West Liberty Hilltoppers. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
