WHEELING, W.Va. – Kayla Klock continued her production with a late goal, but Shepherd rode two first-half scores to victory over Wheeling Jesuit women's soccer Tuesday night.

The Rams (4-2-4/4-1-4 Mountain East Conference) put goals on the board from Regan Stout and Emma Barnadoni four minutes apart at 31:04 and 34:53 for a 2-0 advantage. After WJU (3-7/2-6 MEC) trailed 3-0 midway in the second stanza, Klock took a short cross from Jenny Soegaard-Andersen, and kicked the ball past the visiting goalie as she slid for what would be the 3-1 final.

The Rams goalie did turn away good Cardinals shots by Allyson Evans, Kendra Benzel, Soegaard-Andersen and Sarah Blasiman. Shepherd won the shots battle, 13-8, but only had a 7-6 edge in the second half.

WJU goalie Megan Herter saved four Shepherd attempts.

WJU stays at home and hosts a Friday afternoon, Oct. 6, matinee against West Liberty. Kick-off is 2:30 p.m.
