Cardinals Hit Through Cavaliers

NORTH CANTON, Ohio – When their hitting is on, the Cardinals are tough to beat. The Wheeling Jesuit volleyball team hit .360 for the match and made quick work, 3-0, of its host Walsh University Tuesday night.

The Cardinals posted their 20th victory of the year in 24 matches behind scoring runs in each of the three sets. WJU took an opening set seven-point lead and rattled off the next eight-straight points to make it 21-8, before the 25-10 win. Later in the second ahead 18-14, the visitors put five points in a row on the scoreboard and seven of the final eight for the 25-15 total. The Cavaliers (15-9) had no answer in the third set as the Cardinals built a 10-point lead, before Makenna Babb killed the ball and Cassie Meyer pounded the final two winners to end the night, 25-13.

WJU registered only six errors in 100 attacks with 42 kills for its .360 hit percentage. Walsh, on the other hand, posted only a .067 percentage of its own. The Cardinals had set percentages of .375, .325 and .393.
