GENEVA, Ohio – Natasha Trott and
Kelsey Chambers ran to new Cardinals records as part of the Wheeling Jesuit effort at the Midwest Indoor Invitational on Saturday.
Both Trott and Chambers garnered second in their events, but each set new program standards. Trott blazed to a 7.72 second time in the 60-meter dash, while Chambers recorded a 9:51.76 time in the 3,000-meter run.
WJU also saw Haley Campbell add a pair of runner-up placings in the shot put (13.06m) and weight throw (15.93m) events, while the men's
Jake Henley ran a 9:09.44 for his second place of the 3,000-meter run.
Along with Campbell in the women's shot put, Alba Torres was fifth (12.47m). Behind Campbell in the weight throw, WJU grabbed seventh, eighth and ninth places in
Kristen Shimko (14.66m), Elizabeth Fleming (14.63) and
Lauren Dickerson (14.62m).
Megan Steele leaped 1.58 meters for third place in the high jump. The 4x400-meter relay – Trott, Alex Arnott, Anna Massa and Alex Burch – crossed the line in fifth (4:05.11).
Massa added a seventh place for the pole vault (3.37m) and Arnott was ninth in the 600 meters (1:43.46).
For the other Cardinals men, Devin Rich had a top 10 finish with Henley for the 3,000 meters of seventh (9:13.51). Trey Tucker raced to third in the 400-meter dash (48.49) and he was second in the 60-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 7.05 seconds, but did not compete in the finals.
Tyler Zahnow posted a time of 7.07 seconds in the 60-meter dash and
Jacob Hamilton reached a height of 4.43 meters for eighth in the pole vault.
WJU returns to indoor action Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Youngstown State Invite.
