WHEELING, W.Va. – In a matter of less than two minutes,
Jordan Frommeyer made the beautiful Ohio Valley Saturday much brighter. Frommeyer headed his first goal at 54:52 and followed with his second 1:18 later to propel Wheeling Jesuit past Bloomsburg, 2-0, in men's soccer action.
After controlling the first half and having no goals to show for it, Frommeyer headed into the net his own rebound off the Bloomsburg netminder.
Brent Pedlow crossed a ball from the left wing to a waiting Frommeyer, who tapped the ball into the middle of the net for the insurance Cardinals goal.
"It was a great rebound win and important for us to come off the tough loss (on Thursday night). It Is nice to get on the right track," said Cardinals coach
James Regan. "The first half we were a bit shaky, but took care of a few chances in the second half."
WJU shot 22 times on the net, 10 more than Bloomsburg. Frommeyer led the home team with four shots and his second multi-goal effort of his career.
Goalie Matt McCormick registered five saves in his shutout of the Huskies.
WJU has a quick turnaround time. The Cardinals return to action Tuesday afternoon at the Mountain Lions of Concord in a 4 p.m. match.
