CHARLESTON, W.Va. – After taking a 1-0 advantage just three minutes into the match, the Charleston Golden Eagles held Wheeling Jesuit scoreless en route to a 3-0 victory.

UC (6-1-2) added its second goal of the contest in the 32nd minute and would take a 2-0 lead over the Cardinals (1-7-1) into the break. Charleston's third goal came by way of a deflection off a WJU defender in the 58th minute.

The Cardinals fired five shots in the match. Kayla Klock, Jenny Soegaard-Andersen and Cameron Smith each tallied a single shot, while Meghan Horan and Karly Judy each sent one shot on goal.

WJU's best scoring chance came late in the second period. Both Horan and Judy had opportunities denied within a 10-second span, 70:49 and 70:59, and Klock headed a shot high off a Horan corner kick (71:42).

Sophomore keeper Hannah Thompson finished the match with two saves.

The Cardinals travel to Urbana University on Saturday, October 1 for a 12:30 p.m. match.
