WJU Late Flurry Comes Up Empty

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The Cardinals late flurry came up empty Sunday afternoon. West Liberty netted the day's only goal and defeated the Wheeling Jesuit women's soccer team, 1-0.

The late-match play was all WJU (1-6-1/0-5-1 Mountain East Conference). Sydney Lavengood booted two shots on goal (84:04 and 85:55) with a Jenny Soegaard-Andersen header (85:30) sandwiched between. All three attempts failed to find their way into the West Liberty (4-3-1/4-1-1 MEC) net.

The Hilltoppers' Kaelyn Oskin scored the day's only goal at 56:37.

The Cardinals outshot the home team, 7-4, in the second 45 minutes and finished tied, 10-10, for the match.

WJU goalie Megan Herter was credited with one save.

WJU travels to face the University of Charleston on Wednesday, Sept. 28, starting at 4 p.m.
