SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – For the second time in three matches, the Cardinals served up three identical winning set scores. Wheeling Jesuit flew past host Notre Dame College in straight sets in Mountain East Conference Friday night action.
No. 6 WJU (12-2/2-0 MEC) recorded three scores of 25-10, 25-10 and 25-10 in the winning effort. The Cardinals posted a .373 team hitting percentage, served seven aces and held the Falcons (8-7/0-1 MEC).
The visitors surged past Notre Dame College in each set with big scoring runs. WJU's spurts were 14-2 in the first set, 12-0 second set and 13-2 third set.
Haley Kindall and
Maddy Smyth paced WJU with nine kills apiece. Kindall hit .500, while Smyth bettered her teammate at a .600 clip.
Breanna Kramer added seven kills, hit. 583, two aces and two digs.
Sam Obringer led the WJU defense with 15 digs and an ace.
Kayce Krucki chipped in 14 digs and
Emily Reedy six.
Andrea Thobe handed out 30 assists to go with seven digs, three total blocks and an ace.
Emma Schleucher laced a pair of aces.
Melissa Maczuzak and Mary Kate McHugh led the Falcons with five kills each.
WJU completes its two-game road weekend with a 5 p.m. Saturday match at Urbana.
