Cardinals Fall to Falcons



WHEELING, W.Va. – In an early season Thursday evening Mountain East Conference matchup, the Notre Dame College Falcons outlasted the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals women's soccer team, 2-1.
 
The Falcons (4-0-2, 3-0-2 MEC) took a 1-0 advantage in the 21st minute before the Cardinals (1-5-1, 0-4-1 MEC) tied the contest at 59:54.  Brianna Murgi was credited with an assist on the contested team goal in front of the net. In the 63rd minute, Notre Dame regained the lead on what would become the game-winning score.
 
In the match, WJU recorded five shots. Natalie Indermuhle led the Cardinals with two shots. Meghan Horan, Jenny Soegaard-Andersen, and Sydney Lavengood each finished with one shot.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Megan Herter was credited with two saves on the night.
 
WJU next travels to West Liberty University on Sunday, September 25 for a 2 p.m. start time.
