Klocks' Double-OT Score Propels Cardinals Past Oilers

WHEELING, W.Va. – In a two-overtime Sunday afternoon thriller, Kayla Klock broke free for the game-winning goal to give Wheeling Jesuit its first win of the season, 3-2 over Findlay University. Klock received a pass from senior Meghan Horan and was able to elude the Oilers' defense, finishing off her first goal of the season.

WJU (1-4-1, 0-3-1) struck first off the foot of Jenny Soegaard-Andersen (36:22). Sydney Lavengood fed Soegaard-Andersen a pass up the far side of the field, giving the Cardinals an early advantage.

The Oilers (1-4) answered in the 69th minute as Sierra Peacock finished off a bobbled ball in front of the net. Findlay would score eight minutes later to take a 2-1 lead.

Meghan Horan joined in on the scoring as she finished off a penalty kick attempt just one minute after the Oilers' second score, tying the contest at two apiece.

Both teams were held scoreless in a competitive first overtime period before Klock finished off the fast-break strike in the 103rd minute, securing the Cardinals victory.

Horan led all players with three points, scoring once and assisting on the game-winning goal. The senior midfielder finished with three shots. Klock also added three shots. Nikki Hillard, Kristen Garland, Karly Judy, and Soegaard-Andersen all finished with two shots. Falon Weidman and Cate Calissie both added a shot to WJU's total.

Freshman keeper Megan Herter tallied eight saves in her first collegiate win.
