Spencer Scores Three, Cardinals Defeat Mountain Cats

WHEELING, W.Va. – In a matter of less than three minutes, Teavon Spencer won Saturday's men's soccer match for the Cardinals. Spencer added a third goal and finished with his first collegiate 'hat trick' to lead Wheeling Jesuit past Pitt-Johnstown, 4-1.
 
Spencer scored at 30:24 and returned to the scoring column 2:44 later for a his second goal and 2-0 WJU advantage. Leading 2-1, the Cardinals (4-2) saw Spencer touch the ball to score his third goal (60:21), before Charlie Cahill headed a final home score into the net.
 
In the assist column, WJU had Aitor Iniguez de Heredia, Jordan Simpson, Owain Hawkins and Jordan Frommeyer have helpers.
 
WJU outshot UPJ (1-4) by an 18-9 margin. Tyler Shotwell logged his first game of the year in goal and saved three Mountain Cats' shots.
 
WJU stays home for a 1 p.m. Wednesday night match against Notre Dame College. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
