BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference preseason favorite West Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer team shutout the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals, 3-0, Thursday afternoon. The Bobcats struck once in the first half and added two scores in the second period.

WJU (0-4-1, 0-3-1 MEC) finished with nine shots and six shots on goal. West Virginia Wesleyan (3-0-2, 2-0-2 MEC) sent 14 shots on goal. The Bobcats scored in the 19^th, 46^th, and 61^st minutes.

Kristen Garland, Sydney Lavengood, and Morgan Jacobson all finished with two shots for WJU. Cameron Smith, Kayla Klock, and Emily Hartley added one shot each to the Cardinals total.

Freshman Megan Herter tallied 11 saves in her second collegiate start.

The Cardinals return home for a non-conference matchup with the Findlay Oilers on Sunday, September 18. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
