Cardinals Coast Past Senators

WHEELING, W.Va. – The Wheeling Jesuit men's lacrosse team had its way against the first-year Davis & Elkins program and coasted to a 33-3 victory Wednesday night.
 
Leading 2-1 early in the first period, the Cardinals found the net an unanswered 20-straight times and never looked back.
 
WJU move over the .500 mark for the first time this season and stand at 5-4. The Senators fell to 0-6.
 
The Cardinals saw 18 different players account for their 33 goals. The home club outshot the Senators, 75-8, and won 34 of 40 face off matchups.
 
Dereck Downs totaled the most with four goals and an assist. Bryce Brochu accounted for three goals and three assists.
 
McLean Fitzmartin fired three scores and assisted on one more, while Sam Horning had three goals of his own.
 
Brochu and Downs both tallied three goals in the 11-1 WJU first-period lead over Davis & Elkins.
 
Matt DeVries, Sam Skinner and Michael Tighe found the net twices and Kenny Keyes, David Wallace and Jamison Smith had one goal each.
 
WJU has over a week off before it hosts Alderson Broaddus on Saturday, April 16, in a 1 p.m. match.
