Rams Pitch and Power Past Cardinals

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Perennial Mountain East Conference baseball power Shepherd University pitched and powered past Wheeling Jesuit, 2-1 and 19-10, on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

The Rams (21-9/14-4 MEC North) received a key two-run J.J. Sarty single, while the Cardinals' (10-20/9-9 MEC North) scored in its last at bat, but the comeback attempt fell a run short. Shepherd wasted no time in game two with nine first-frame tallies, before WJU's offense started its 13-hit attack.

Shepherd held WJU to three hits in the first game, while the two clubs totaled 36 hits in the late game.

For the Cardinals, Dillon Sunnafrank pounded out four hits, including a solo home run and double in the late contest.

Jagger Bruck recorded a 4 for 7 two-game effort with two runs and a RBI. Anthony Connacher doubled twice and singled with three RBI in game two, while Chris Minder singled three times as well in that contest.

WJU completes its four-game weekend series against Shepherd on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
