FAIRMONT, W.Va – The Wheeling Jesuit women's soccer team earned a road Mountain East Conference victory over Fairmont State Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals managed one goal each half en route to a 2-1 victory over the Falcons.

WJU (3-8-1, 2-7-1 MEC) struck in the 14^th minute off of a Natalie Indermuhle goal. The Cardinals were able to convert a Meghan Horan corner kick, taking a 1-0 advantage early in the first half.

In the 65^th minute, Sydney Lavengood turned another Horan corner kick into the Cardinal's second goal of the game. The Falcons (2-10-1, 0-10-1 MEC) cut into the Cardinal lead in the 67^th minute with a rebounded goal by Abigail Pasierb.

WJU controlled the tempo over the last 20 minutes of play, securing a 2-1 victory.

Lavengood led the Cardinals with four shots in the match, while Nikki Hillard and Emily Hartley each added three. Horan added two shots to the Cardinal total, and six other Cardinals tallied one shot apiece.

WJU keeper Hannah Thompson charted five saves in the match.

The Cardinals return to action on Thursday, October 13 when they host Concord University in a MEC doubleheader.
