WJU Adds Win Over UVa.-Wise Volleyball

WHEELING, W.Va. – In the lone home match of the weekend, the Wheeling Jesuit volleyball team added another win on the season with a 3-0 sweep over The University of Virginia's College at Wise early Friday evening.
 
The No. 5 Cardinals (26-2) improved to 12-0 in the Mountain East Conference with the 25-20, 25-12 and 25-17 victory over the Cavaliers (6-22/4-7 MEC).
 
Sydney Obringer continued her rise with 13 kills without an error on 25 attacks for a .520 hit percentage. Haley Kindall chipped in seven kills, while Lauran Graves had four kills and five block assists.
 
Kayce Krucki and Sam Obringer recorded 16 and nine digs. Andrea Thobe handed out 33 assists to go with three blocks.
 
Karley Allen downed 13 kills in the UVa.-Wise effort.
 
The Cavaliers played tough in the first set and the set was tied at 16-16. Sydney Obringer lined two kills of three-straight Cardinals points and the home team never trailed the first set again.
 
WJU ran out to a 12-4 set two lead and completed a 25-12 win on a Breanna Kramer ace.
 
Leading 20-17, the Cardinals put the final five points on the scoreboard for the match victory.
 
The Cardinals heads north for a Saturday afternoon tri-match. WJU faces Wayne State (Mich.) at 3 p.m., before it takes on host Lake Erie College in a 5 p.m. match.
