Cardinals Soar Past Falcons

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Completing a Mountain East Conference volleyball road weekend, the Wheeling Jesuit soared past Fairmont State in three sets.

The No. 5 Cardinals (25-2/11-0 MEC) received top-hitting performances from Sydney Obringer and Breanna Kramer and posted the 25-18, 25-13 and 25-16 scores over the Falcons (14-10/7-3 MEC).

Although it didn't match its Friday night hitting, WJU committed only six errors and a team .314 attack percentage.

The Cardinals defense forced 19 Falcons attack errors and saw Haley Kindall amass seven total blocks to go with six kills.

Sydney Obringer downed a match-high 13 kills without an error in 25 swings for a .520 percentage and two block assists. Kramer contributed nine kills, a .471 hit percentage, 10 digs and an ace.

The stout WJU defense was led by the trio of Kayce Krucki, Sam Obringer and Emily Reedy with 15, 12, and 11 digs, respectively. Andrea Thobe had 37 assists.

Mackenzie Harrison led Fairmont State with 11 kills and four block assists.

WJU returns home for a single Friday night, Oct. 28, match against UVa-Wise. First serve takes place at 5 p.m.
