Cards Drop Match to Rams

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – In a Sunday afternoon Mountain East Conference matchup, the Wheeling Jesuit women's soccer team fell, 2-0, to the Shepherd University Rams.
 
Shepherd (7-6-1, 6-6-1 MEC) scored one goal per period to clinch the MEC victory while WJU (4-9-1, 3-8-1 MEC) tallied 10 shots over the 90 minutes of play.
 
In the 42nd minute, Rachel Sefton put the Rams ahead, 1-0. Seftons' teammate Abby Hoffman added the second Shepherd goal in the 79th minute of action.
 
Emily Hartley led the Cardinals with three shots and two shots on goal. Sara Blasiman fired two shots while Meghan Horan, Nikki Hillard, Sydney Lavengood, Cameron Smith and Kristen Garland each contributed one shot on the afternoon.
 
WJU sophomore keeper Hannah Thompson faced 11 shots and recorded three saves.
 
The Cardinals return to action on Thursday, October 20 when they host rival West Liberty at 7:00 p.m.
