Cardinals Take Care of Bobcats & Pioneers

WHEELING, W.Va. – In a Mountain East Conference Saturday doubleheader, the Wheeling Jesuit volleyball took care of both West Virginia Wesleyan and Glenville State by 3-0 final scores.
 
The No. 4 Cardinals (22-2/9-0 MEC) received an 11-kill Lauren Graves effort in a 25-12, 25-17, 25-12 win over the Bobcats (6-15/2-6 MEC). In the second match, Maddy Smyth downed 11 kills and led WJU over Glenville State (1-21/0-6 MEC) by a 25-15, 25-11, 25-8 final.
 
Graves and Smyth totaled 26 kills without an error in 40 combined attacks for a .650 hit percentage along the WJU frontline. As a team, the Cardinals had 90 kills with only 10 errors in 171 attacks in the afternoon's two matches.
 
Stephanie Sylvester totaled 53 set assists, including 35 assists against the Pioneers. Haley Kramer pounded 13 kills with eight against Glenville State.
 
Aleah Stauffer chipped in seven kills and Emily Reedy added nine digs.
 
WJU remains at home for a Tuesday night, Oct. 18, match against Atlantic Region playoff team Pitt-Johnstown. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
