WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The Wheeling Jesuit women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaking match to rival West Liberty University, 1-0, on Sunday.

The Hilltoppers (1-4-2, 1-3-2 Mountain East Conference) scored at 70:12 when defender Kylie Woyat was able to find the back of the net. The Cardinals (2-5-1, 2-3-1 MEC) recorded 15 shots but were unable to convert on their attacks.

"It was another tough loss. We were unable to capitalize on the chances we created," WJU head coach Tyler Absalom stated.

WJU and West Liberty played to a tie in the first 45 minutes of action. The Cardinals recorded five shots in the first half.

The two teams recorded a total of 21 shots in the second half, 11 for West Liberty and 10 for WJU.

Sophomore Nikki Hillard led the Cardinals with six shots in the match. Meghan Horan and Maria Tennant each added two shots to the Cardinals total.

Senior goalkeeper Holly Kraus faced 18 shots in the match. Kraus went on to record 11 saves in the match, allowing only one goal.

WJU returns to action when it plays host to the University of Charleston on Wednesday, September 30 at 5 p.m.
