URBANA, Ohio – The Wheeling Jesuit women's lacrosse team rode a strong first half to a convincing, 17-8, victory at Urbana University on Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Cardinals (4-6/2-1 Mountain East Conference) fired in the match's first five goals in 11:14 and added another five-straight following a single Blue Knight score to open a 10-1 lead. For the third time in the match, WJU netted five goals in a row to start the second half to put the game out of reach, 15-4, with 15 minutes remaining.
Jessie Tufnell and
Olivia Krock combined to score nine goals and five assists to lead the Lady Cardinal attack. Tufnell contributed five of the goals and three assists with Krock having the other four goals and two assists.
Elizabeth Hales added two goals and assisted on four scores.
Kori Hickman was the fourth multiple goal scorer with two and had one assist.
Danielle Wheeler passed for two assists.
Markie Wright, who scored one time, and Krock helped Wheeling Jesuit control the action, Wright won eight draw controls and Krock five. As a team, WJU won the draw controls, 19-8.

Maire Austin posted 13 saves of the 26 shots she faced.
The Lady Cardinals' 17-goal output was their second-highest of the year behind a 20 score total against Alderson-Broaddus on March 21.
