Box Score Wheeling, W.Va. – The Jesuit Men's Basketball team looked to get back in the win column on Thursday night when they hosted the Cavaliers of University of Virginia-Wise in another Mountain East Conference matchup as the season comes down the stretch.
Junior guard
Justin Fritts, who averages 14.9 points per game, scored 10 points in the first half. Freshman guard Patrick Moseh and sophomore forward
Kyle Ritz each had eight points as Wheeling Jesuit pushed their lead to 17 going into the intermission ahead 43-26.
As a team, Wheeling Jesuit outrebounded the Cavaliers 22 to 10 in the first 20 minutes of play. In addition, Jesuit outshot the visitors 60.7% to 34.5% from the field and 66.7% to 33.3% from three-point range.
Six different Cardinals scored in double digits. Moseh led all competitors on the court with 22 points, three rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Fritts finished with 14 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Sophomore guard
Chase Lawson hit 4 of 8 from three-point range for 12 points in 19 minutes of play. Freshman forward
Haywood Highsmith also scored 12 points and added three rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Junior guard
Eric Siefert finished with 11 points, four rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Finally, sophomore forward
Kyle Ritz added 10 points and 11 rebounds, the only double-double of the night.
For the fourth time this season Jesuit broke the 100 point barrier, winning 108-78. Jesuit shot 58% on the night.
The victory improves WJU's record to 12-8 overall and 8-7 in the Mountain East Conference. The Cardinals return to action this coming Saturday when they host Concord University at 3pm in the McDonough Center.
