Moseh's Back-to-Back Buckets Take Cardinals Over Rams

WHEELING, W.Va. – Pat Moseh's back-to-back inside buckets propelled Wheeling Jesuit men's basketball over Shepherd University, 75-73, on Saturday afternoon.

Trailing by four points, Eric Siefert downed a 3-pointer for a 72-71 score at 4:49 left. Moseh took the Cardinals (6-1/3-1 Mountain East Conference) fortunes into his hands with consecutive inside baskets and put his team back in front, 75-72, for the first time since the opening minute of the second half. Shepherd's AJ Carr's 3-point try with two seconds left hit off the rim for the 75-73 final.

"It was a hard-fought game. Shepherd played very well today. We had to grind it out," said WJU head coach Danny Sancomb. "Drake (Goddard) gave us great minutes. Eric Siefert and Pat Moseh played well down the stretch and we played great defense in the last nine minutes."

The WJU defense held Shepherd (3-4/0-4 MEC) to nine points in the final 9:57 of the game and one 3-pointer as the lone basket.

Siefert led four double-figure Cardinals scorers with 19 points, including four 3-pointers. Along with his two big buckets, Moseh finished with 15 points on 5-for-9 shooting and a pair of assists and two steals.

Haywood Highsmith grabbed 14 rebounds, while Kyle Ritz and Goddard chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Cardinals will have a week off until they travel to Erie, Pa., to face Gannon University next Saturday, Dec. 12. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
