WJU Volleyball Starts November with Win over Urbana

URBANA, Ohio – In its first November match, the Wheeling Jesuit volleyball team kept its season rolling by sweeping past Urbana University and posted its 21st win in a row.
 
The No. 7 Cardinals (26-3/13-0 Mountain East Conference) netted nine of the final 10 first-set points and sailed on for the straight-sets win over the Blue Knights (10-15/4-9 MEC) with scores of 25-11, 25-17 and 25-13.
 
Kayce Krucki extended her double-digit kill matches to four with a match-high 13 kills to go with seven digs and three block assists. Emma Schleucher added 10 kills, hit .474 along with seven digs, six assists and three total blocks. Andrea Thobe contributed another double-double with 32 assists and 12 digs.
 
WJU has a short turnaround as it plays at Notre Dame College Saturday, Nov. 7, starting at 1 p.m.

In the sets…
In the first set leading 16-10, Schleucher pounded four kills as part of the Cardinals' 9-1 run to end the set, 25-11.
 
Holding a 17-11 advantage midway through set two, Schleucher, again, helped end the match with three kills down the stretch of the 25-17 win.
 
WJU never let Urbana in the third and final set. The visitors rattled off the opening 10 points behind four Krucki kills and took away the 25-13 final.
