Blue Knights Handle Cardinals

WHEELING, W.Va. – After Wednesday night's big upset, the Cardinals' letdown fear came to a reality Saturday afternoon. Urbana University connected on three second-half goals and handled Wheeling Jesuit, 4-0, in Mountain East Conference men's soccer.

Leading 1-0 at the half, the Blue Knights (7-1-1/4-1 MEC) converted a penalty kick (58:33) and added a third goal five minutes later to post their seventh win in a row. Down by three goals, the Cardinals (5-4-1/3-3 MEC) saw shots by Brent Pedlow, Aitor de Heredia and Jordan Frommeyer all go high over the goal between the 69th and 76th minutes as the team's biggest offensive push.

Urbana was efficient with its shots. The visitors took 11 and put eight of them on
goal, while WJU tried nine total shots.

Frommeyer accounted for four of WJU's attempts and de Heredia three.

Cardinal keeper Mathew McCormick saved four shots in goal.

WJU returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at California University (Pa.). The match kickoff is 7 p.m.
