WHEELING, W.Va. – The Wheeling Jesuit women's soccer team dropped a Mountain East Conference match against Notre Dame College, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon. The Falcons scored two second half goals to win the match.

"It was a shame we couldn't get the win for our seniors, but it was not for a lack of effort," head coach Tyler Absalom stated. "We just could not put together a consistent 90 minutes of play and gave them too many opportunities."

Notre Dame (11-4-1, 10-3-1 MEC) and WJU (3-11-2, 3-9-2 MEC) were tied 1-1 at the half. The Falcons struck first when Riley Doyle received a crossed pass in front of the net and finished the goal into the bottom left hand corner at 16:16.

WJU was able to respond to the first Notre Dame score. The Cardinals scored in the 33^rd minute when Kristen Garland scored from 25 yards out on a free kick. Kristin Eaton tapped the ball back to Garland who was able to finish off the score into the top left hand corner of the net.

Notre Dame College went on to score two more goals in the second half of play. The Falcons game winning goal came off a free kick in the 65^th minute. Notre Dame tacked on a third goal at 78:52.

Emily Hartley tallied two shots in the match. Natalie Indermuhle, Gabby Burchett, Sara Blasiman, Sydney Lavengood, and Kristin Eaton each added one shot.

Freshman goalkeeper Hannah Thompson recorded eight saves in the match.

The Cardinals return to action on October 28 when they travel to Urbana University.
