Frommeyer put three balls in the back of the net as part of outscoring the visiting Rams (2-11/1-8 MEC), 5-0, in the second 45 minutes. On any other day, Aitor Iniguez de Heredia would have had top WJU point honors with two goals and two assists of his own.

The Cardinal victory was very important for their MEC postseason hopes. WJU took over sole possession of fourth place with a 5-4 record for 15 points. Wheeling Jesuit stands only three points behind Notre Dame College (18 points) and it is now three points ahead of fifth-place West Virginia Wesleyan, which has 12 points, with three league matches remaining.

Frommeyer saved all his 2015 goals for Sunday. The junior from Alexandria, Ky., had misfired on his nine shots over the opening 13 matches, before converting on four of his six shots against Shepherd.

De Heredia's pair of goals
were his first multi-goal effort of the year. He now has seven on the year and four assists.

Along with Frommeyer and de Heredia's big days, Brent Pedlow assisted on three of the WJU scores.

At 24:30, Pedlow found Frommeyer on a cross for the first goal and de Heredia converted a penalty kick less than two minutes later (26:14) for a 2-0 home lead.

The Rams cut the margin to a single goal, 2-1, on a 36:11 score by Kevin Bonanno.

Pedlow found de Heredia with only 3:21 off the second-half clock for a two-goal separation. Frommeyer added three more goals (61:29, 70:47 and
73:23), while Daniel Undreiner accounted for the other WJU score for the 7-1 final.

WJU goalie Mathew McCormick saved four shots for the win.

The Cardinals' tough end of the season starts Wednesday night, Oct. 21. WJU hosts No. 9 and undefeated Millersville in a 7 p.m. match.
