Wheeling Jesuit Women’s Lacrosse Battles to Big Win

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The Wheeling Jesuit women's lacrosse team scored 17 goals en-route to a 17-5 trouncing of the Ursuline Arrows in GLIAC conference action on Saturday.
 
The Cardinals improve to 9-5 on the season overall and move up to 5-1 in the GLIAC to remain in second place in the conference.
 
Ursuline was actually the first to score in this game, getting on the board just 30 seconds in. The Cardinals then rattled off 16 of their 17 goals before the Arrows would score again to see them through to victory.
 
WJU's Jessie Tufnell was once again the scoring leader for Cards, putting in three goals on five shots. A host of Cardinals added two goals a piece leading to the 17 point total. Mary Burns, Elizabeth Hales, Paige Plesich, Molly Parker and Olivia Krock all scored a pair to account for 10 more points.
 
Defensively, Maire Austin served the whole game in goal for WJU, picking up the win with five saves to her name.
 
The Cardinals face their two toughest conference games to date over the next week when they play host to Lake Erie College and Grand Valley State, two teams who bookend the 2nd place Cards in 3rd and 1st place, respectively.
