PHILLIPI, W.Va. - Eight different Cardinals scored goals as the Wheeling Jesuit opened up their Spring Break trip beating Chowan University 20-4 at Alderson Broaddus University.
WJU moves to 1-1 on the season while Chowan drops to 2-3.
Wheeling Jesuit controlled the game offensively through
Jessie Tufnell, who opened up the scoring in the first half and finished with 4 goals and 2 assists.
Elizabeth Hales found the back of the net 6 times and
Sara Fitzsimon scored a hat trick.
Shelby McClure had 2 goals and 1 assist and midfielder
Mary Burns capitalized on both of her free position shots.
Danielle Kirby,
Paige Plesich, and
Holly Deckert each added a goal as well.
Goalkeeper,
Maire Austin, recorded her first career win. The defense in front of her kept shots to a minimum by swarming to the ball.
Olivia Krock, Etin Underwood, Kirby, McClure, and Hales had either takeaways or caused turnovers.
WJU remains on the road as they travel to Georgia to play Young Harris College on Monday. The game is slated to begin at noon.
