Box Score SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.---The Wheeling Jesuit women's lacrosse team fell 19-3 on the road to Slippery Rock University on Thursday evening. The Cardinals moved to 4-7 overall while the Rock improved to 4-6 overall.
Slippery Rock opened the game with a 14-0 run which lasted into the second half. The Rock lead 12-0 at the break and registered two quick goals in the second half before Jesuit landed its first goal. At 22:01,
Sara Fitzsimon broke the Cardinals' scoring silence, and
Jessie Tufnell credited on the assist. A few minutes later,
Shelby McClure buried a free position shot for WJU's second goal. After Slippery Rock answered with four goals, McClure rattled the cage again wth a free position shot to finish the Cardinals' scoring.
Fitzsimon secured a team-high four draw controls, and Tufnell followed with two.
Molly Parker and Christina Bass added one each.
Hannah Lazuka led the team in ground balls and played between the pipes for 60 minutes and recorded 14 saves.
Annie Campbell collected five ground balls, and Bass picked-up four. Fitzsimon and
Sara Buckley had two and one, respectively.
Wheeling Jesuit will be back in action on Friday, April 12 on the road against the University of Findlay. First Draw is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
