WJU Softball Receives Good Pitching, but Drops Two

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Kissimmee, Fla.---The Wheeling Jesuit softball team received two stellar pitching performances, but fell by scores of 2-1 and 1-0 to Northern State University and Notre Dame College (Ohio) at the Rebel Spring Games.
 
The Cardinals opened the day with Northern State and took the early lead as Wheeling Jesuit plated a run in the second inning. Jesuit scattered five hits, led by Rachel Conrad's 3-for-3 performance, and committed two errors on the day. The Cardinal defense led by pitcher Erika Jusko denied the Wolves run until the fifth inning when a walk and WJU fielding error put two runners on the bases. Another WJU error scored NSU tying run and a hit plated the game winner.
 
Jusko earned the loss, hurling six complete innings allowing only three hits and two runs.
 
In game two, Jesuit's lone hit came from Aleecia Sunagel as Notre Dame pulled out the pitcher's dual win. The Falcons plated the run in the third inning which proved to be good enough for the win.
 
Ashley Nichols earned the loss with a complete game performance, allowing eight hits and one run.

WJU will beb back in action on Tuesday, March 5 against Rockhurst University at 1 p.m. and Holy Family University at 3 p.m.
