Box Score Shippensburg, Pa.---The Wheeling Jesuit women's lacrosse team fell on the road to Shippensburg University by a score of 17-5. The Raiders improved to 2-2 on the season while Jesuit slipped to 2-5 overall.
Ship opened the game with a 9-0 run which was interrupted by WJU's Christina Bass. At 13:44, Bass rattled the cage with a free position shot, and three minutes later,
Jessie Tufnell used a free position attack for the Cardinals second goal. The Radiders held a 14-2 halftime advantage.
The scoring was even in the final 30-minutes of the game as both theam rallied for three goals. Ship buried the initial shot and Jesuit answered with a pair of goals.
Sara Fitzsimon recorded Jesuit's third goal at 13:18 and
Shelby McClure followed with the Cardinals fourth score. With 8:21 remaining in the game, Tufnell found the back of the net for the second time of the game, tallying WJU's fifth and final goal.
On the ground, the Cardinals were led by Fitzsimon. The junior from Sacramento, Calif. secured four ground balls and four draw controls Allie Fetty and
Annie Campbell picked-up two ground balss apiece.
WJU goalie, Hanna Lazuka collected 11 saves between the pipes.
Wheeling Jesuit will be back in action on Wednesday, April 3 against Urbana University at Bethany College's Bison Stadium. First draw is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
