Box Score Institute, W.Va.---The Wheeling Jesuit men's basketball team held a 10-point, 74-64 advantage with 6:23 left in regulation when the home standing Yellow Jackets from West Virginia State University surged with a 12-3 run for a 77-76 league victory. The Yellow Jackets improved to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in league play, and the Cardinals slip to 2-2 and 0-2.
Recardo Gaddy poured in a season-high 28 points to lead Wheeling Jesuit's scoring efforts, and
Ben Siefert followed with a 16-point, 12-assist double-double performance.
Justin Fritts and
Joe Prati rounded out the Cardinals double-digit scorers with 14 and 11, respectively, while
Eric Siefert (3),
Tim Goff (2) and
Darin Harris (2) contributed points.
West Virginia State was led by Anton Hutchins' 15 points, while David Ford and Jalen Walker notched 11 points and Brandon Ross chipped in 10.
Wheeling Jesuit will travel to Louisville, Ky. on Saturday, Dec. 8 for a non-conference contest with Bellarmine University. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
